Preparing for the Hurricane Season

It’s never too early to start making preparations for hurricane season – and it’s not too late, either!

Andrea could form over the warm waters off the coast of Africa anytime now. Sure, hurricane season doesn’t officially start until June 1, but that didn’t stop Tropical Storm Alberto, the first named storm of the 2018 hurricane season, from blowing through the Gulf of Mexico and making landfall near Laguna Beach, Florida in May.

And 2018 wasn’t the first time that a storm got a jump start on hurricane season. In fact, we’ve had storms form before the official June 1 start of hurricane season for four years in a row now.

According to the National Hurricane Center, “The peak of the season is from mid-August to late October. However,” they remind us, “deadly hurricanes can occur anytime in the hurricane season.”

Don’t wait until a hurricane threatens South Florida before stocking up on bottled water and batteries. This is an ideal time to start putting together the supplies you’ll need to weather a storm. This is also a great time to contact Master Builders Impact Windows of Boca Raton, FL for a free estimate. If you need hurricane windows and doors for your Pompano Beach home or are shopping for impact windows for a Delray Beach bungalow, we would be happy to discuss your options with you.
